Actually we don’t have an engine room, the engine is mounted on the hull under the rear deck.
On the right is an aerial shot of the rear deck with the original boards, taken in 2014 two years after we bought the boat. Boards are usually made of industrial plywood, but water gets in the edges and rots them – see the corners. They were replaced.
On the right, the same shot, but with the deck boards removed. Again, taken in 2014, I have since replaced the alternator, the entire engine wiring loom, and the stern gland. See below.
The sunken part of the floor that narrows to a point at the top is called the boat’s swim.
